The Masters of Glass & Clay highlights unique artworks from the world’s largest and most significant private collection of Finnish glass and ceramic art, Collection Kakkonen, in a series of six volumes, published in 2020. Assembled by the businessman and art patron Kyösti Kakkonen, the collection comprises over 10,000 works of Finnish glass and ceramic artwork – many of them one-offs, rarities and masterpieces – dating from the late 19th century to modernism and present day.
We spent three years curating and documenting the extensive collection. Only the stand-out masterpieces were chosen to be highlighted in the six richly illustrated volumes. Each volume follows its own theme and all together the volumes introduce over 2,000 works by 36 established artists as well as essays by leading experts, all written especially for the project.
